What Is it about?
Based on the novel by Sholem Aleichem, Fiddler on Roof first premiered on Broadway in 1964, before going on to be adapted into an eight-time Academy Award-nominated movie. Since then it has become a standard of American musical theatre, and the hilarious story elicits positive responses wherever it is played. At the turn of the 20th Century Russia is a country on the brink of revolution. Although the chaos seems to seldom touch the isolated family of Tevye the Milkman, he sees the effect on his three daughters and, as each one takes the path their heart desires, Tevye's faith is severely tested.
