A thrilling reimagining

A Vampiric Reimagining
Choreographer Stephen Mills offers a new vision of a historical icon, recasting Marie Antoinette through a darkly fantastical lens in this world premiere with Ballet Austin. The notorious queen is imagined as a seductive, dangerous, immortal force: a vampire. The Austin Symphony Orchestra provides live accompaniment with music by Graham Reynolds in this reimagining of the intrigue of the French court.
France's famed queen was the last Queen of France before the French Revolution, born an Austrian archduchess who married King Louis XVI at just fourteen. She became infamous for her extravagant lifestyle and lavish spending, which made her a powerful symbol of royal excess and inequality. One of history's most controversial figures, after the monarchy fell she was tried for treason and executed by guillotine in 1793.
