Original members of the Buena Vista Social Club go out in style
Break out the Cuban cigars and straw fedoras, the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club is back and bidding their fans 'adios' with a final world tour. Growing out of the iconic recording session helmed by Ry Cooder in Havana in 1996, the 13-man band features members of the original line-up including singer and dancer Omara Portuondo, trumpeter Guajiro Mirabal, laud player Barabarito Torres and trombonist Jesus "Aguaje" Ramos.
The Grammy Award-winning Buena Vista Social Club were a surprising success. The 90's recording of the same name sparked a fervent interest in Cuban and Latin American music that spread like wildfire throughout the world. Transcending trends and fads, the band's timeless sound evokes and celebrates the golden age of Cuban music with infectious melodies, clave rhythms and a tremendous amount of authentic joy in the music they make.
